Ultimately, a trip to Flor De Cafe Bakery is like a trip to a low class establishment in the downtown region of Tehran, Iran."
Thirdly, when you get to the cashier, it seems that they work too fast perhaps because they are not so focused on the quality of service, but rather on quantity. I was seriously worried that they may not properly charge something or forget something. I had to experience some attitude from the cashier as well.
This place has great pastries, but always out of the one speciality that folks come from all around to buy! (Their "yervanyan" nazook!) Hence that tells me they lack the inventory management skills to not dispoint customers! (Basically one out of seven times they'll have it) ...and that is the biggest problem I and I m sure others have with this place! So please hire a decent business oriented manager that understands the supply and demand sides of this business! ...other than that all is great!
First of all, this store appears to be tremendously overstaffed with a bunch of "fresh off the boat" Armenian girls straight from Iran with third world social and customer service skills. They have one of the easiest jobs in the world and are extremely attitudinal and rude.
Though I do not know for certain, I have a very strong feeling that all of these high ratings and positive reviews here come from the friends and family of the owners of this establishment.
One of the best Armenian/Persian bakeries. I'd say it's one of the iconic ones among Los Angeles Iranian community. They also have real Persian pistachios. Most of the employees can speak English, Armenian, and Persian. :-)
Secondly, the only thing they provide at the entrance are little baskets to fill up and nothing else. Yesterday, I purchased over $150 in products for my mother from them and when I asked that they send someone over from the back room to help me take the baskets to the cashier, one of those girls gave me a dirty look and told me to drag it over there myself. I had to ask another customer, a gentleman who had been shopping there, to help me take the basket to the cashier.
"I would only give this store a single star for the varieties of products they produce and sell. In all honesty, I believe it is really the only leg this store stands on. Otherwise, it would be a total flop in a single heartbeat.
The best cinnamon bun of my life! Breakfast sandwiches are on point. Great place to order some delicious food and sit outside on their benches or walk down to the beach.
With that said, I will explain why I consider this establishment to be a disgrace to the principle of "decent," not necessarily good, customer service.
I only shop here when my mother who lives up north needs something and wants it from this store specifically, which puts me in the middle of having to deal with the classless people that work there. Every time I had been to this store (which does not exceed twice a year since I would never give them business but for a relative who wants me to pick somethings up from here), I have had the experience of seeing one employee after another, grimacing her face, giving you the cold shoulder, or acting rude because you asked her one too many questions that she was not in the mood to answer. It is almost as though you are somehow bothering them and pestering them by coming into their store and shopping there.
I just left a review on yelp and I will copy and paste it here while I am at it:
An absolutely fabulous bakery. We've been coming here for year as. Always fresh and best ingredients. Very friendly staff. Great prices. 100% recommended for all.
